Hello and welcome
Hello, and thank you for stopping by.
I think the best place to start is to introduce myself, this project and why this site exists. I’ve been wanting to start a website for a while now as I’ve wanted to combine both a blog where I can share my thoughts and explore ideas, as well as a place to publish knowledge articles as I learn skills and write them up. This project is also providing me an opportunity to learn some new skills in putting together a web page and arrange hosting etc.
Who am I?
You can find out more about me from About, however to give you a taste; I’m a technology geek who loves what he does. As much as I enjoy working in technology I also really enjoy working as part of a team and finding all the different ways I can contribute to those teams. I take my role as a senior seriously and am passionate about helping to develop my team mates; so sharing my knowledge, experiences and thoughts is something I believe in doing and enjoy. That’s not to say you have to do as I say, not at all, but if what I’ve learnt can help you then I am happy for you to benefit #PayItForward.
Why a blog?
Over the last few years I’ve found myself thinking more deeply about what work means to me, what it means to be in a team and to lead a team and more generally what being a good human means to me. As I’ve explored these ideas I’ve found those around me have, more often than not, reacted positively to my thoughts and to how I changed my approach. The more I learnt and tried and the more feedback I received the more it began to feel like I wanted to share my thoughts with a wider audience and grow the discussion. Although I likely won’t have a discussion board working on the launch date for this site I’d love to share the discussion on LinkedIn or Twitter and I’d be happy to hear from you.
What about Knowledge?
UPDATE: I have now brought my knowledge articles to this site! As an IT engineer the discovery, creation and reuse of learned tips, tricks and skills (knowledge) has become a vital part of my working mindset. You can all my latest published articles here or you can continue to find the source over on my GitHub repo here.
